Conseguir across the tenses
A short story using conseguir in multiple tenses
My mum used to say that we manage to get what we need — not necessarily what we want. She used to be able to see what was good in any situation. We children used to manage less than her and complain more. Today I manage more when I stop comparing myself to what others achieve. Yesterday I managed to finish something that had been stuck for weeks — and the feeling was like flying. We manage the things that matter like this — slowly, with persistence, without an audience. Next year, I'm going to manage what I need — with faith and planning. If I dedicate myself, I will achieve what I haven't yet tried. I asked her what she would most manage if she could start over. She smiled: I would manage to rest without guilt. It's the only one I never quite got right.
