Tirar across the tenses
A short story using tirar in multiple tenses
My dad used to take photos on slide film — a roll of thirty-six shots, careful with every click. He used to take one photo of the family every Christmas, in the same spot. We used to take that awkward photo for years — and today it's gold. Today I take a hundred photos in a day and delete eighty. Yesterday I took a photo of lunch and it came out better than I expected. We take photos of different things now — and they all have the same impulse: to keep. Next Christmas, I'm going to take the photo in the same spot. If the whole family can come, we will take it and keep it for the next one. I asked my dad what he would take if he only had one shot. He didn't think: he would take the whole family together. It was always that one.
