Voltar across the tenses
A short story using voltar in multiple tenses
My dad used to come home from work with a biscuit in his pocket for me. He used to come back every Friday — punctual, smelling of office and good tiredness. I used to come back from school at that same time just to be there when he arrived. Today he comes back more slowly — age asked for that. Yesterday he came back from his walk and called me to say he'd seen a southern lapwing. We've returned to the habit of talking every day, for no reason, just because. Next month, I'm going to go back to Belo Horizonte to see him. "If I have the strength, I will come back to walk with you in the hills," he promised. I asked where he would return if he could go back anywhere. Without hesitating: "I would go back to Friday with the biscuit in my pocket. That was the best moment of the day."
